Welcome to new members!

We would like to welcome two new members to the BDRG at VT Geoscience!

Aleen Pertuz-Paz joins us as a PhD Student interested in sediment dynamics, geomorphic processes, and the interactions between flow, sediment transport, and landscape evolution. Before joining Virginia Tech, she completed an M.S. in Ocean, Coastal, and Earth Sciences at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), where she worked as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant in Dr. Dong’s Lab.

Before moving to the United States, Aleen earned an M.S. in Hydraulic Resources Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and gained professional experience as an Engineering Geologist in Colombia.

Erin Thimmesch joins us as an Undergraduate Researcher interested in sedimentology, earth surface processes, and investigation of grain size analysis methodology and tools. Erin is majoring in Geosciences at Virginia Tech and looks forward to gaining research experience with the Bedform Dynamics Research Group.

Welcome to both of you, Aleen and Erin, and we look forward to working together!
